Sleasiest company ever. Go to install new stick over Christmas holiday.

Everything proceeds as normal. Go to create online account portion that's needed to proceed with install. Credit card info is needed to proceed. Who does this?

Red flags are going off in my mind already, but there is no where on the page on how to proceed with installation without entering credit card (I find out later that after 6 failed attempts it will give you the option---yuck). Anyway, against my better judgement I give them credit card to get this thing up and running. Next page has all the channels available, which I quickly scroll thru since we already have a Netflix and Amazon account and I will link it later. Next page shows zero charges for channels.

Click enter again. Here's where they scam you. You've just authorized every channel available to be charged to your credit card as they were preselected to be added. In other words, on the available channel page you HAVE TO UNSELECT EVERY CHANNEL TO NOT HAVE THEM ADDED TO YOUR ACCOUNT.

Once you've hit enter on the next page (showing no charges) there's no way to stop it from installing channels. This, to me, is the dirtiest scam with a so called reputable company I've ever encountered. I can't believe I'm the only one to ever have this problem, either. Further, there is no direct phone number found on Roku site.

Managed to find it thru google and thier support just gave me complete runaround with the problem. I'll need to dispute each individual channel charge with my credit card company once they charges start to post, which I've no doubt they will. Even if, by some miracle, they don't and my customer support phone call solved the problem, this thing is getting returned as I refuse to deal with a company that would set up it's site so that this could happen, and, as I believe, is set up in fact for this to happen repeatedly to thousands of other people, thru a single minor inattentive click (and no apparent way to proceed with setup without providing credit info)! DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT!

YOU'LL BE SUPPORTING A BUNCH OF CROOKS! GET A CHROMCAST INSTEAD.

Reason of review: Other issue.

Monetary Loss: $30.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

Roku products work pretty well, but you are correct in their lack of customer service. They sell you a Roku and it usually works.

If it doesn't, then well, good luck with that. They got your money anyway. You do not have to give them your credit card number. The easiest way is to open up a throwaway Paypal account and put ten dollars in it and use the Paypal account to open the Roku account.

They want your credit or paypal info in case you buy or subscribe to a pay channel, etc. As long as you have a paypal account, you are set to go and if you ever make a mistake in subscribing to a channel, etc.

the most they can take is whatever you still have in your paypal account. You might try Amazon Fire stick or whatever they call their service which is similar to Roku.
