Roku service is horrible

My roku box stopped working and I went through all of their steps. They did everything but try to send me a new Roku player. I finally had to contact the warranty plan and I'm getting a walmart gift card! I want my money back! It was going to be such a long process that I bought another player and Roku charged me another 7.99 for service. When I told them I wanted them to credit that money back to my account, they said I would have to contact wal-mart??? What??? that makes no sense. Service is through Roku not walmart! The lady kept me on the computer for EVER! I would ask if she was still there and she would say "I'm here" and never answer my question! They're horrible! Either Roku has to start doing a better job when problems arise or Wal-mart needs to dump this company for someone better! Theyre horrible!

Me too!! I explained my issue and when I stopped speaking..all I heard was silence.

I said "hello?!" And hear "yes?" I honestly don't think the reps are fluent in English. They NEVER answer questions. They never fix issues. I'll never use Roku again.

They owe me over $300 in unauthorized fraudulent charges.

I tried disputing them...their response email: "We would like to inform you that the refund has not been processed for the channel (Hulu Plus)." No explanation as to why they charged my account 7 times within 2 weeks. I will get my $$ back...I don't care if I have to start a class action lawsuit...this company is a joke and needs to be punished.

ROKU's Rotten Egg Customer service

You can expect many electronics to break. As a consumer (lifeline of all companies), positive and productive customer service for customers needing assistance with a defective device is a must. For ROKU, none of these exist. The corporate office is stated to be in Saratoga, CA. But ALL calls are routed to India or The Phillipines call centers. They ask you the same exact questions over & over even after explaining your problem several times. They put you on hold then return, put you on hold again-- repeat repeat repeat. There is no recourse for management level customer advocacy. I have five (5) ROKU's in my home. My advice; DO NOT BUY A ROKU as you will be as sorry as I am.

Stay away from Roku. The one I bought will not stay connected, I called customer service and it was as waste of time.

After spending an hour on the phone with the rep and moving the device to 3 different tvs.

The problem still existed. I am returning my Roku device.

Roku Streaming Stick Review from Park City, Utah

2nd roku stick. POS product. I will likely never purchase another roku. Ever. The hdmi sick is always over heating. Fist sick died with in 3 months of owning it. The 2nd. Which I pretty much plea dealed down, is showing the same symptoms as the first. Getting very hot. Losing connection. Locking up. We leave it UN plugged most the time any more and use our blue ray player. When we do use it. We are lucky to get and hour of use out of it. Then we need to have it UN plugged for 4 or 5 hours before it will work again. It's only 2 month old from the warranty replacement. Customer service was a joke when I contacted them the first time. I will never contact them again. Do not buy a roku. Ever.

Roku - Media Player Review from Ashburn, Virginia

Roku set up fine, connected to network, performed updates, then asked me to activate. Would not activate. Tech support ran the old you have viruses and window services that aren't running but I will sell you a virus checker and windows service for a discount. Yes, he tried to sell me a windows service that was already running on my machine. This thing is a POS and scam to sell you unecessary software. Beware!

Roku sucks. That is all.

The title says it all. I have a streaming stick and it sucks. Horrible service on my TV. I go online and watch stuff on my PC with no problems so that tells me Roku is one of the biggest wastes of money I have had in a long while. I lose service constantly, especially at peak hours. Roku was down for an entire weekend so I unplugged the *** thing and let it reboot before it would work again. What was that all about?? The remote is the biggest turd I have ever seen in a remote device. You push the select button and the thing goes nuts and starts to auto scroll. You have to keep hitting the stop button to get it back under control. Do yourself a favor, skip this sack of ***. I took a hammer to mine and will never, ever buy another piece of roku garbage.

Roku's Channels do not work as they should

I am finding that the Roku channels are not working properly. Here is a report on what I did and what I found out. FOXNOW, I get error message, noAuth Then also when I choose a show I wish to see it shows me only one chapter and not the first one. It is chapter 21. It should start with chapter 1 and then include each channel up to and including chapter 21. Another show I chose only gave me chapter 20 SYFY / I chose a show to watch and went to #1 and it did not play the complete show only a couple minutes. So I choose a different show and all it says is "retrieving": Never got anything else either. Now I choose a 3rd one and there is no way that I can find chapter numbers to watch this one. So I randomly choose one to see what will happen. Again it plays for only a couple of minutes. PBS / I am unable to find any of the shows I had previously been watching. I searched Masterpiece Theater and here I find only 2 series and none of which I had been watching. Of the 2 shown there is no chapter 1 only chapters 3 and 4. Who in their right mind starts watching something in the middle of the story. OK, so now I try Animal Planet thinking I will catch up on the Jackson Galaxy show. well it was nowhere to be found and none of the familiar shows from this channel are listed. So now I got to CBS and you want to charge me $5.99 a month?? WHY??? FOR WHAT??? I now try FXNOW, I find a show I used to watch and decided to catch up on it. I select the show "The Americans? Now I get a message to activate device. WTF???? I go to the website it says to go to and type in the code and it asks me for my internet provider. When I do this my screen changes and I get this: Request Entity Too Large The requested resource /selfservice2/secure/changesecurityandpreferences.action does not allow request data with GET requests, or the amount of data provided in the request exceeds the capacity limit. So another channel not working. :( I decide to try another story on this same channel. Go thru the whole rigamarole once again says it is completed and to go back to the tv. I follow all the instructions but I am back to where it says "sign in to play latest episode" DUH, been there done that. So on to Lifetime where I choose a story to watch but again it does not tell me the chapter numbers. I choose one not knowing where I may be in the story. It plays only a couple of minutes and puts me back to the menu.A&E I choose Bates Motel. It is showing 2 chapters. I start to play and it shows me scenes from past stories which are not even here for me to see. Again, there are missing chapters. So now what does this make. I believe 8 channels which are the only ones of interest to me that I would watch on Roku and none of them works properly. 2 HOURS OF MY TIME TRYING TO FIND SOMETHING TO WATCH AND END UP WITH NOTHING. So they tell you to cut the cable and get a Roku but you are not aware that the channels you are giving up you can't watch correctly with this Roku. At least I can still watch my local channels with an antenna.

ROKU SUCKS. Works for FEW months then cuts out.

SUCKS. Rip off. No customer service. I shouldn't have to work this hard to contact customer service.

YOU shoud be bending over backwareds for me, not ME.

#983086

Most of the channels are things you must pay for. They aren't going to give you everything for free and you should know this.

Do your research before making grand claims that you were deceived.

I would advise you to check out Crackle, Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime but would like to let you know that only Crackle is free.

On a side note the website errors you are getting are due to the provider as in FX, Fox, CBS, etc. and it has been all over the news that CBS is now providing their service at a monthly rate.

Roku - Streaming Stick Review from Buffalo, New York

This is Steve Day in buffalo, This is an update to my first complaint I've gotten nowhere, I have sent numerous Emails, and get one responce, the exact same email back, what does that say, Roku didn't care! I wish I had done my research better, I have purchased now 3 Sony smart blu-ray players. They are much faster, do way more than the Roku have more channels and have had no issues, pricing about 20 more than the stick and less than the Roku 2 or 3. Roku I don't understand why they don't stand behind there product, and customer service there is a joke. I have been hung up on, sat on hold for hours been talked down to like I was *** by someone who didn't know how to spell buffalo or what country it was it. There supervisor wouldnt come to the phone and when she finally did she was just a ***. I was doing everything they asked and was pleasant the first 2 times I spend almost an hour pushing reset buttons and unplugging it over and over again. But 3,4 and the fifth time I was irate, but the supervisor insisted we try again. So here it sits what is now called the Roku streaming *** stick. so becarful when they work it good but it breaks good luck. Do research there are alot better systems out there and more coming, very happy with the Sony, have looked at the Samsung, and great deals and service at quickshipelectronic. Look them up on the web. Very poor access

Roku just isn't worth it. The set up is cumbersome and everything is a trial or a purchase. Multiple entries on each channel you and to surf or watch is true labor between you and your devices. Not user friendly at all. Your better off with a cable bill and getting 300 channels. I had trouble with downloading, entry and passwords. Imagine trying to get into your bank account, customer service is closed and every time you log in there's a new activation link required. In a nutshell that's Roku. So unless you want to waste your precious time purchasing and entering new passwords and making up new accounts then Id say Take a pass. Roku its four letter word.

What a colossal waste of time. And complete "bait-and-switch" advertising on the part of ROKU.

Fees everywhere you turn, creating new accounts for each channel you would like to watch. Maneuvering thru menu after menu that simply takes you right back to having to create an account and pay to watch.

What an awful experience. Oh, and Customer Service is in India...need I say more.

Roku - Media Player Review from Buffalo, New York
Update by user Apr 21, 2015

I did get one follow up from them after I had emailed them about the problems and was told that they will make an exception this time and email me a prepaid mailing label. Which I never received!

I emailed them back saying the 4-5 dollars wasn't the issue. Being without it for a month and being treated as a *** was.

It's bee about 2 weeks have heard nothing from them. Must be policy aggravate the customer so they go elsewhere and don't have to replace equipment.

Original review posted by user Apr 21, 2015
My name Steve day I am having same issue I spent an hour the first night with them pushing every button they had over and over. Finally I was told it was broke dug! It was 42 days old he said take it back to the store so I did told no Roku takes care of it. Call them back And the guy said yes I see it. Puts me on hold forever comes back said his supervisor said try a few things so plug it back in and started. To do all the same things I said wait I did all this he said his supervisor said, I said no I'm not doing anymore, let me talk to her. On hold forever again. He comes back and says she's busy but insist we do this. I said no we're not I've already done it twice now I'm done. Puts me on hold again. 20 min this time he says she said she'll replace it. I said OK got my information, I had to spell buffalo 6 times he said what country is that I'm like USA. Oh what state I said New York how do you spell this.NY. I said what do I do with old one. He said new one comes there will be a return slip. I said OK. So I get an email saying that when they receive the broken one after 3-5 days they will mail a new one to me. Now that's over With month without it. And they have a return address of Bussalo , I'm like really so call back again ask for supervisor, had to fight to talk to her she finally gets on the phone with attitude and again wants to try a few things. I said no way I have for over 2 hours. Explain about the waiting time and what else could be done was told nothing that's how it is. Hung up went to Walmart bought a Sony blu-ray player that does everything that this stick did plus plays DVD and blu-ray. Have more options and faster for 69.98 I paid 49.95 for there piece of ***. 20.00 more for alot more, I won't deal with a company that doesn't stand behind there product. It's like they tried everything to not replace it. I still have it. Not worth the activation to get it. I ordered another Sony from eBay on sale for 59.95 same thing. So why buy something that does so little that is so aggravating. Look around

My Roku won't stop losing connection

I've read several complaints online about Rokus' losing connection. Most everyone had some sort of ridiculous reason for the thing losing connection. I think it's ridiculous to spend this much money on a device , then buy channels for it and all it does is lose connection. Every 5 mins I have to get up out of my chair and unplug it, wait for it to reboot just so it can *** freeze again. I used to use my PS3 for Netflix and Hulu. I'm going to smash this Roku with a claw hammer because it's such a piece of *** ***, and it's cause me so much trouble. Why would you sell a product like this? This thing sucks big monkey ***.
